We are not celebrating October 4th, a day when animal rights violations continue! Today, October 4th is World Animal Protection Day, and it is the perfect day to reflect on veganism as the minimum way to protect animals. It is up to us to give up our habits that harm animals and change for a more just world.
-
That "at least" 70 billion land animals and 2.7 trillion aquatic animals are killed annually for their "meat"...
-
"At least" 1 billion vertebrate animals in captivity in "at least" 10,000 zoos...
-
336 dolphin parks and aquariums keep "at least" 3600 cetaceans in captivity.
-
That "at least" 1 billion animals a year are raised and killed for their fur.
-
More than 100 million animals are tortured in experiments every year.
-
In the US alone, more than 100 million animals are killed by hunters every year.
-
And in a world where millions of animals are subjected to systematic violence every day in pet shops, production farms, carriages, shelters, transportation, dairy-egg farms, streets, circuses, silkworm farming, beekeeping ... we have no right to celebrate this day when violence against animals continues in all its dimensions!
Still, the struggle for animals is not over. For this reason, we see today not as a day of celebration, but as a day that reinforces our struggle and keeps our anger alive.
